Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be. – Abraham Lincoln
Could you name five things that make you happy? The first time I was presented with that question it really made me pause. I could come up with 3 things fluidly but the other things were harder to pinpoint. As I asked other people I realized that many people were not aware of things that could make them happy or even how to achieve happiness.
In Happy Women Live Better by Valorie Burton she pinpoints “triggers” that could be used to promote and extend happiness in women’s lives. According to research “Women today are twice as likely to be depressed as men.” With more women playing dual roles and taking on more responsibility in both home and work it seems women feel more stressed trying to find perfection in more than one part of their life. If their home life is good it seems that their work life suffers and vice versa. With this imbalance Valorie Burton strives to help women find the triggers that will allow them to live a more fulfilling life.
Although the book is geared towards women these tactics or triggers can be used by both men and women. You can start by finding out what your happiness triggers are by taking the happiness test at www.happywomantest.com. The test will tell you your main happiness triggers and the ones that you can work on to optimize your happiness.
I want a better life and I also want to make sure it is a happy one. Are you conscious of the things that make you happy? Do you try to do those things on a regular basis? If you are having a hard time taking that first step in finding happiness take a chance on Happy Women Live Better.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 (KJV)
Have you ever felt like you are not owning up to your skills and your abilities? It’s a daily trial to acknowledge my light but every day I strive to let it become known to all I interact with. Let me know how I’m doing in the comments and let me know if you need some inspiration.
Forgiveness is the living of love or the application of love to our lives. It is remembering that we are capable of loving our- selves and others in a greater way. – Iyanla Vanzant
Forgiveness can be a hard thing to do. It requires both love and faith. You have to love yourself enough not to hold onto the pain and love the person although they did you wrong. You have to have the faith that you will feel better and that eventually the pain will go away. Forgiveness requires us to step outside ourselves and let go.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
Faith activates God – Fear activates the Enemy. – Joel Osteen . God is love, so having faith is also love. Faith requires trust and hope that can only be achieved through the living of love. Have you ever tried to have faith without trusting?
